Heritage SKU Import Wizard

As part of the Heritage Integration, you can use the Heritage SKU Import Wizard to add your Heritage SKUs quickly.

Go to Operations / Inventory / Heritage SKU Import Wizard

REMEMBER! LOU will create the SKU Category if the one you select doesn’t exist in your Inventory yet. But the import will fail if the Unit of Measure isn’t created in LOU yet.

  1. Select at least a Major or Minor Category to view SKUs – you may select both if that helps refine your Search.
  2. Optional You can further refine your Search by selecting a Supplier.
  3. Once you are satisfied with your Search parameters, click Lookup

A message will display, letting you know that it will take a few minutes for the results to load. If you have left the Search parameters wide, such as only selecting one Category, it will take longer to load.

Once the SKUs have loaded, you can select which ones to include in the import.

  1. Click the box next to each SKU you want to include in the import. To include all SKUs, click the box next to the Heritage header.
  2. After you have selected the SKUs you want to include in the import, click the Import SKUs button. The number of SKUs you are importing will appear in the button.
  3. On the Set Retail Margin and Import SKUs page, determine what margin you want to set these SKUs at.
    1. The integration does not support Fixed Pricing since Heritage cannot know what your Fixed Prices would be in order to adjust prices. If you use Fixed Pricing, leave the default Retail Margin to get the SKUs imported. Just remember you will need to go in and change each of the SKUs from Margin to Fixed Price.
  4. When you’re ready to import, click Import.
  5. Click Yes to confirm you’re ready to Import.
  6. LOU will take it from there and you can leave and take care of other business.

Import Complete

Once the import is complete, you can go to inventory and locate those new SKUs under the same Category you used in Search parameters. Make sure you take care of these items:

  1. Don’t forget to head over to Map Inventory to Financials if the import created new SKU Categories.
    1. REMEMBER! If the Category in Heritage is several words separated by commas, the first four words will be created as Category 1, the fifth word will be created as Category 2, and the sixth as Category 3, through to 4 categories.
  2. If you prefer to use Fixed Price, you must go into the SKU(s) and update the Price from Profit Margin to Fixed Price.
    1. When you’re importing multiple SKUs, the easiest way to do this is by using the SKU Mass Update Import.
      1. On the SKU Mass Update screen, filter for the same Category(ies) you used to import and select Heritage as your Vendor.
      2. Export the update template.
      3. Edit the template to change Profit Margin to Fixed Price and enter the Price value.
      4. Follow the steps to import the template and make the changes to the SKUs.
    2. If you don’t want to leave the SKUs in the Categories created by Heritage, you can the same SKU Mass Update import to change the SKU Categories as well.
      1. IMPORTANT! The import may have created duplicate Categories. If you imported SKUs with the same Heritage category as an existing SKU Category in LOU, you may need to update those SKUs to your existing LOU Category and remove the Heritage category.

Important Note about SKU Categories

SKU Categories are represented as fields on the SKU Profile in LOU and do not exist as standalone data. For that reason, if you change the Category on a SKU and that results in zero SKUs remaining the “old” Category, that SKU Category will be removed from the SKU Category List. Next time you import SKUs from Heritage in that Category, LOU will create the Category again.

If you are concerned an import may have failed, you can look up the information by going to the LOU Audit Log found in Operations / Reports.
